Frequently Asked Questions
As with any report, there are always many questions that arise. Below are some common questions asked by both parents and students. Hopefully, these answers will help you as you complete your project!
- Can I include other illustrations in my project?
You most certainly can include more than two illustrations in your report! Although the required illustrations are hand drawn, you may include others that have been copied from a book, or taken from a web site. Please be sure, however, that any picture you include in your report also has a caption and some reference to the source it was taken from. - Can I have someone type my rough draft on the computer?
Remember that this is your project, not your parent's project! If you want to have your rough draft done on the computer, you must be the one to type it in. The final draft must be handwritten by you in cursive. - Can I use a pencil in my work?
It is always good to use pencil when you are planning your map, flag, and illustrations. However, when each is complete, be sure to outline any pencil with a dark marker. This will give your project a nice, finished look. - Will my rough draft be graded?
Your rough draft will be graded on content and completeness of sentences and paragraphs. Although it is a rough draft, it must be legible and spelling mistakes from your outline must be corrected. Also, make sure that you have included all of the information from your outline into your report. Finally, make sure you write in complete sentences, and include topic and closing sentences in each paragraph. - I am not sure how to write my introductory and concluding paragraph?
Use the example from class to help you in drafting your introductory paragraph. Use the Concluding Paragraph Ideas to help you in writing your concluding paragraph. - Can I include other information in my report that is not included in my outline?
You may include any additional information about your country into your report. - What if my country does not have all of the landforms listed in the outline?
If your country does not have all of the landforms listed in your outline, you may change one of the landforms to a different type. For instance, if your country does not have any plateaus, but includes many islands, you may cross out plateau, and write in islands. Try to include at least six different landforms in your country. - Can I bring in artifacts/special items to share that are from my country?
Once your report is complete, you will have the opportunity to share portions of it with the class. You may bring in special items/artifacts to share at this time.
